Basketball Wins Regional Championship; Punches Ticket To Final Four
Magnificat Basketball clinched the OHSAA Division I Regional Championship defeating Medina by a final score of 51-36. In a keenly contested game at Medina High School, fans witnessed the Blue Streaks' return to the top after securing their first Regional Championship and Final Four berth since 2002. The game commenced with a gritty display of defense from both sides, with the Blue Streaks managing to maintain a lead with a score of 25-17 at halftime. Junior Sofia Wilson led the Magnificat charge with an 20 points, while fellow junior Julia Hall added 12 crucial points to the tally. Wilson's defensive prowess was showcased through her 5 steals, complemented by her all-around performance on the court. Sophomore Gemma Wichmann also made key contributions, grabbing 12 rebounds. Senior Brynn Roggenburk stifled the opposition with her exceptional defense throughout the game, specifically focusing on limiting Medina's Olivia Klanac to 7 points. The Blue Streaks, now 21-6, will prepare for the OHSAA Division I State Semifinal where they will face Olmsted Falls at the University of Dayton on March 15th at 6:00pm.
