Blue Streaks Earn 2nd Place at Joseph King Longhorn Invitational

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks track and field team performed admirably at the Joseph King Longhorn Invite on April 27, earning second place out of eight schools. The meet, hosted by Lutheran West, featured a prowess of skills demonstrated by the Magnificat athletes across running and racing events. Mae McGreal soared to victory in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4 feet 10 inches. In the 4x800 meter relay race, the quartet of Lily Kuhlman, Annabelle Norris, Shaya Eidson, and Camryn Zawadzki showcased their teamwork and speed to finish in 11 minutes and 5 seconds, claiming first place. Eidson and Stock exhibited notable performances, crossing the line at the 1600 meters in third and fourth place respectively. Jesse Vargo powered to second place in the 800 meters, closely followed by Sadie Young in third. Kuhlman's speed shone in the 400-meter dash, securing third place, while the 300m hurdles saw Margaret Kelly perform with grit to clinch third with a time of 53.22 seconds. The 4x400 relay of S. Young, Vargo, Kuhlman, and Zawadzki cruised to third place with a time of 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Other notable individual performances included Maddie Murphy, who managed a fifth-place finish in discus and a fourth-place finish in shot put. Their accomplishments, combined with the performance of their teammates, helped the Blue Streaks amass 100 points and secure the second-place position. "I'm really proud of the team's performance today. The athletes have put in a lot of work; it's great to see that effort translate to results," said an elated Coach McAdams. The Magnificat High School track and field team will use the strong showing as a springboard for future successes as they continue their quest for championship titles.
