Blue Streaks place 15th at Comet Relays, win high jump relay
AMHERST, Ohio - Magnificat finished 15th out of 27 teams at the Comet Relays, one of the biggest meets in Ohio over the weekend, and the Blue Streaks were led by a winning effort in the high jump relay.
Mae McGreal, Sarah Frericks and Sadie Ross gave Magnificat its top result of the day, winning the high jump relay with a combined clearance of 14 feet, 2 inches. In a meet packed with large fields and deep competition, that performance stood out as the Blue Streaks' signature moment and provided the team's strongest push in the standings.
The Comet Relays, held Sunday in Amherst, brought together 27 teams for a meet that tested depth across the event lineup. Magnificat's 15th-place finish reflected the challenge of competing in one of the state's largest invitationals, while also showing where the Blue Streaks were able to break through against a strong field.
The high jump relay victory supplied exactly that kind of breakthrough. McGreal, Frericks and Ross combined consistency and height to top the field, giving Magnificat a relay title and one of the day's clearest highlights. Their total of 14-2 separated the Blue Streaks in an event where every successful clearance mattered.
Beyond the team placement, the meet offered another benchmark for Magnificat early in the outdoor season. Facing one of Ohio's biggest weekend meets, the Blue Streaks came away with a relay championship and a proven top-end performance from McGreal, Frericks and Ross, a result that could provide momentum as the schedule moves forward.
