Blue Streaks Take on Bay Invite in Track and Field Meet

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks track and field team competed at the Bay Invite on April 13. The meet, which brought together athletes from across the region, saw the Blue Streaks finish in ninth place out of 11 teams. Throughout the day, individual athletes from Magnificat delivered standout results despite the overall team placement. Katelyn Singleton and McKenna Purtillo showcased their skill in the high jump, securing 4th and 3rd place, respectively, with jumps measuring 4 feet 8 inches. Kelly Karabatsos grabbed 5th place in the 400 meters with a time of 65.11 seconds. The 3200 meters event saw Allison Sanchez rounding out the top six, clocking in at 12 minutes and 37 seconds. The 4x800 relay featuring Harter, Vargo, Norris, and Zawadzki also placed 6th with a time of 10 minutes and 57 seconds. Additionally, Maddy Murphy made her presence known with a 2nd-place finish in the discus, achieving an 88-foot, 8-inch throw. The meet brought experienced athletes and newcomers on the team together to compete. It is this dedication and hard work that will continue to drive the Blue Streaks track and field team this season.
