Impressive Wins for Magnificat High School Track and Field at Walsh Dual Meet

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks showcased their talent with many individual and team victories at the Walsh Dual Meet on April 22, 2024. The Magnificat girls track and field team graced the Walsh track in a display of skill and athleticism, emerging victorious with a 93-39 score over Walsh Jesuit. The weather was sunny, providing perfect conditions for the athletes to deliver some stellar performances in the dual meet. Standouts for Magnificat included Allison Eppich, who took command of the sprints, winning the 100m dash with a time of 13.57 and claiming a share of first place in the pole vault with a 10-foot clearance along with her teammate Emily Allman. Eppich also secured a second-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 28.97. Eleanor Mitchell added to the team's triumph by clinching the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.45. Margaret Kelly followed suit, taking first place in the 300m hurdles at 52.9. Singles race winners also included Lily Kuhlman, who triumphed in the 400m dash with a time of 64.75, and Gwen Zawadzki, who won the 800m run with a time of 2:49. Rebecca Jewell excelled in the 1600, which she dominated with a time of 6:01. Madison Miller showcased her versatility by claiming both the high jump and the long jump, reaching 5 feet in high jump and 15 feet and half an inch in the long jump. The relay events were not to be outdone. The 4x400 relay team, composed of Kuhlman, S. Young, Zawadzki, and Kontak, dominated their opponents with a winning time of 4:43, while the 4x800 team of Kuhlman, Zawadzki, Norris, and S. Young crossed the finish line first, clocking in at 11:04. "I was really pleased with the way everyone competed today. It's great to see our team's training and hard work paying off," Magnificat Coach remarked after the meet.
