Lacrosse Wins Regional Semifinal 10-8 In Hard-Fought Battle Over Hoover
Magnificat Lacrosse secured a 10-8 victory over Hoover in the OHSAA Division I Regional Semifinal. Enduring the pressure of the postseason, the Blue Streaks maintained their composure in an intense competition on Karnatz Family Field on their home turf. Sophomore Grace Quinn's leadership was vital, scoring three goals during the game. Her pivotal moment came as she netted the game-winning goal, propelling her team into the next round. Senior Kristina Fedorova and sophomore Alena Martinez contributed two goals each, while freshman Mary Connor played a critical role in the triumph with two pivotal assists. A standout performance in goal was delivered by sophomore Olivia Brugnoni, who tallied 16 saves. At the halfway point, the Blue Streaks held the lead at 8-3. The resilience of the Hoover Vikings was undeniable as they closed the gap to 8-7 midway through the fourth quarter, but ultimately the Blue Streaks emerged victorious, cementing a fine addition to their season's record. The Blue Streaks advance to the OHSAA Division I Regional Championship for the first time in school history on Thursday, May 30th at 7:00pm. They will travel to Hudson High School to face Hudson.
