Magnificat High Girls Track and Field Places 2nd at Invitational

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks girls track and field team notched a commendable 2nd place finish at the Girls Only Invite hosted by Walsh on April 16. Sitting under sunny skies, the Blue Streaks gathered 129 points, edged only by their determination to outpace competitors during the event. At the invitational, several athletes from Magnificat showcased their talent with noteworthy performances. Running events proved to be a standout as Eleanor Mitchell's personal best time of 17.3 seconds earned her a 2nd place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, while Casey Ansberry secured a 3rd place victory in the 100-meter dash with her 13.2-second sprint. Shaya Eidson's personal best time of 6 minutes and 1 second in the 1600 placed her in third, while Frankie DeFranco achieved the same rank in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 55.73 seconds. Allison Sanchez, also earning a personal best time, finished 3rd in the 800-meter run at 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Megan Martin led the pack in the 3200-meter, concluding with a winning time of 12 minutes and 54 seconds. The field events were no less impressive, with a series of top finishes for the Blue Streaks. Madison Miller leaped to victory with a first-place high jump of 5 feet and 4 inches. She also achieved a personal best second-place finish in the long jump, reaching 15 feet and 7 3/4 inches. Allison Eppich cleared the bar at 10 feet to capture first in the pole vault. The Blue Streaks are already looking ahead to their next meet. On April 20, the team will aim to continue its string of strong performances at the Comet Relays set to take place at Amherst.
