Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Excel at Varsity Dual Meet in Track and Field

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks showcased an impressive performance at the Varsity Dual Meet hosted by Walsh Jesuit on April 2. In a warm weather gameup, the Magnificat High School team, achieved a victory against Western Reserve Academy with a score of 105-15 and breezed past Hathaway Brown with a score of 95-20. In a dramatic turn, the meet tied at 62-62 between Magnificat and Walsh Jesuit. The exciting Varsity Dual Meet featured standout performances in various events. The relay teams took center stage with both the 4x800 team of M. Martin, Kubasek, O'Brien and Zwadzki clinching the top spot with a time of 12:09, and the 4x100 team of Davala, Vargo, Ramos, and Harter showcasing a swift pace of 54.99. The 4x400 relay team of Stock, Vargo, Ramos, and M. Martin also secured a win with a time of 4:25. Individual brilliance was evident as well, with Kelly Karabatsos finishing first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 66.04. Mikaela Davala displayed her speed in winning the 200-meter race with a time of 28.1. Brooklyn Ramos-Kelly was victorious in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:37. In the field events, Riley Bender impressed by taking the top spot in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet 4 inches, while Allison Eppich soared to success in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9 feet 6 inches. Special mention also goes to everyone's first time high school racer, Kelly Karabatsos, who stated, "Winning the 400 was so exhilarating. To do it in my first-ever high school race makes the achievement even more special." Jesse Vargo's episode during one of his races adds a memorable angle to the meet: "I got stung by a bee!" she said. The Varsity Dual Meet was an exciting showcase of talent and team spirit, highlighting the Blue Streaks' prowess in track and field.
