Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Outpace St. Joseph in Senior Night Dual Meet Victory

In a display of athletic prowess, the Magnificat High School Blue Streaks track and field team clinched a narrow but crucial victory over St. Joseph on May 7. The highly anticipated Senior Night event in Fairview Park and the resulting 70-67 win underscored the aptitude and dedication of both the graduating athletes and their teammates. Throughout the dual meet, individual accolades decorated the Blue Streaks' performance. Madison Miller emerged as a standout, claiming victories in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches, and the long jump, where she soared to 15 feet, 9 inches. Teammate Allison Eppich's acumen in the pole vault was equally impressive, as she tied for the top honor with a vault of 10 feet, 6 inches. The relay distances witnessed a formidable Magnificat display as well. The quartet of Davala, Kuhlman, Harter, and Ramos Kelly took the win in the 4x800 meter with a time of 9 minutes, 57 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay, composed of Davala, Ramos-Kelly, Mayer, and Harter, charged ahead to secure their first-place finish with a time of 4 minutes, 11 seconds. In the sprint events, Casey Ansberry dashed to victory in the 100 meters with a time of 13.17 seconds, while Mikaela Davala exhibited her speed, topping the 400-meter race with a time of 59.62. Mariella Mayer wasn't to be outdone, demonstrating her stamina and strategy as she won the 800-meter contest in 2 minutes, 30 seconds, alongside teammate Allison Sanchez, who powered through the 3200 meters in 12 minutes, 10 seconds for the win. The dual meet served as an exhibition of the Blue Streaks' tenacity and a fitting tribute to the graduating seniors, underpinning their prowess as they continue onward.
