Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Secure 3rd at District Championship

The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks, representing the girls' varsity track and field team, showcased an impressive performance at the District Championship held in Avon on May 23, 2025. Competing against formidable teams from Avon, St Joes, Rocky River, Avon Lake, Lorain, Midview, and North Ridgeville, the Blue Streaks secured a commendable third place out of 17 teams, amassing a total of 61 points. During the meet, several Blue Streaks athletes qualified for the regional championships, highlighting their skills and determination. Mae McGreal made significant strides in the high jump, securing a spot at regionals with a jump of 5 feet, placing her third in the event. Chloe Bibbo also advanced to regionals in the pole vault, clearing 9'6" to earn a third-place finish. The 4x800 relay team, consisting of Allison Sanchez, Lily Kuhlman, Shaya Eidson, and Megan Martin, achieved a time of 9:52, finishing fourth and moving on to regionals. In addition, the 4x100 relay squad, featuring Chloe Bibbo, Casey Ansberry, Izzy Loeffler, and Kelly Karabatsos, also qualified for the regional meet with a time of 50.5 seconds, placing them fourth. Karabatsos further qualified in the 400m dash with a fourth-place finish. Notably, Allison Sanchez triumphed in the 3200m run, leading from start to finish and becoming the district champion with a personal best of 11:39. The 4x400m team, comprised of Casey Ansberry, Lily Kuhlman, Karabatsos, and Mikaela Davala, dropped 8 seconds from their previous best, claiming second place with a time of 4:05 and securing their advance to the regionals. Reflecting on their performance, Chloe Bibbo commented on her determination, stating simply, 'I'm hungry' after the 4x100. Coach T praised his team's resilience by remarking, 'That is the beast in them,' celebrating their significant improvement in the 4x400 to make regional qualifications. As they prepare for the upcoming Regional Championship in Port Clinton on May 28, 2025, the Blue Streaks are expected to harness this momentum and further demonstrate their athletic prowess.
