Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Triumph at Grey Hawk Showcase
The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks, representing the varsity girls' golf team, clinched a significant victory at the Grey Hawk Showcase held at Grey Hawk Golf Club on August 29, 2025. Competing against formidable teams like New Albany, Olentangy Orange, Brunswick, and Highland, Magnificat showcased exceptional skill and consistency throughout the tournament.
In an 18-hole stroke play format, the Blue Streaks emerged victorious with an impressive score of 315, narrowly edging past New Albany who scored 320. Olentangy Orange followed with 327, Brunswick scored 332, and Highland trailed with 341. This win added a significant mark to their current season record of 8-2.
Key contributors to the team's success included Kristina Chill and Calli Reed, who posted outstanding rounds of 76 and 78, respectively. Their performances were pivotal especially in the back nine, where Magnificat played a consistent game to overtake New Albany and Olentangy Orange. The sunny and cool weather conditions were ideal for the showcase, contributing to the high level of play throughout the day.
Reflecting on the team's performance, the coach praised the team's resilience and strategic play in critical moments, stating, 'Our team showed great resilience on the back nine today by staying very consistent and playing smart to take the lead and never look back.'
Looking ahead, the Blue Streaks are set to compete in the Co-Ed Classic at Pine Hills, scheduled for Tuesday at 10 am, where they anticipate continuing their strong performance. The team remains focused on maintaining their impressive momentum as they progress through the season.
