Magnificat High School Competes at Avon Invite Regional Caliber Meet
Magnificat High School's girls' varsity track and field team participated in the Avon Invite, a regional caliber meet, on May 2, 2025. The event, held in Avon, experienced a turn in weather from stormy to sunny, setting perfect conditions for the competition.
Against a backdrop of tough competition, including schools like Avon, Westlake, Twinsburg, Avon Lake, and Euclid, the Blue Streaks finished 11th, amassing 22 points among 18 participating teams. Casey Ansberry was a standout, securing 6th place in the 100m dash with a personal best of 12.65 seconds. Allison Sanchez also broke new ground by completing her event in 11:48, a significant accomplishment as she broke the 12-minute barrier. Mae MGreal and Sarah Frericks both cleared heights of 4'10" in the high jump, resulting in 5th and 7th place finishes respectively. The team also saw success in relay events with the 4x100 and 4x800 teams placing well.
'This meet is a top showcase meet. We are having a meet record every race,' said the coach of Magnificat High School, reflecting on the team's performance. The Blue Streaks are scheduled to compete next at St Edward Stadium on May 6, 2025, where they will face St Joes.
