Magnificat High School Cross Country Shines at Avon Lake Early Bird Invite
Magnificat High School's Girls Varsity Cross Country team delivered a commendable performance at the Avon Lake Early Bird Invite, held at LCCC on August 31, 2024. Competing against a strong field of 15 teams, the Blue Streaks secured a fourth-place finish, marking a significant achievement early in the season.
The event saw standout performances from several Magnificat runners. Allison Sanchez led the team with a remarkable ninth-place finish, clocking in at 21:34. Close behind, Mikaela Davala and Megan Martin showcased their skills, finishing 16th and 20th respectively, with Ally Liller just a second behind in 21st place. Rebecca Jewell also put up a solid race, finishing 39th. The team's collective efforts were highlighted by their perseverance in overcoming the challenging hill on the course, demonstrating both physical and mental toughness.
Despite the looming challenge of rain, which fortunately held off, the Blue Streaks focused and conquered the course obstacles with determination. Reflecting on the team's performance, the coach optimistically remarked, "On to next week!" indicating a forward focus and readiness for upcoming challenges.
Looking ahead, Magnificat High School's Cross Country team is set to compete next at the Walsh Invite on September 7, 2024. With this solid performance as a stepping stone, the Blue Streaks are poised for continued success in the season ahead.
