Magnificat High School's Blue Streaks Shine at Avon Lake Invite
On April 5, 2025, the Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Girls Varsity Track and Field team faced tough competition at the Avon Lake Invite, competing against schools like Brunswick, Rocky River, Glen Oak, Avon, and Avon Lake, but still managed an impressive showing. The team secured the 6th position out of 18 attending teams, amassing a total of 39 points in a spirited display of athleticism and teamwork.
Highlighting the meet, Kelly Karabatsos showcased her sprinting prowess by finishing 2nd in the 400m dash, clocking an impressive time of 60.51 seconds. The teamwork of the 4x400 relay team, which included Ansberry, Sanchez, Kuhlman, and Karabatsos, also came into the spotlight as they clinched 4th place with a commendable time of 4:16. Adding to the team’s achievements, Mae McGreal excelled in the high jump, finishing 3rd with a leap of 5'0", while Sarah Frericks also made a mark by finishing 5th with a jump of 4'10".
The event held in Avon Lake proved to be a great platform for the Blue Streaks to demonstrate their capabilities and sportsmanship amidst a field of strong competitors. This performance sets a positive tone for the team's future events, as they continue to build on their success and represent their school with pride.
