The Magnificat High School Blue Streaks participated in the 68th Annual Comet Relays on April 20, an event that saw them finishing in 10th place out of the 28 teams that gathered in Amherst. The weather offered a cool and competitive backdrop as the Blue Streaks competed in various relay events. In the running and racing category, standout performances brought individual recognition to the team. Sprinting in the 100m dash, Casey Ansberry claimed a sixth place finish with a time of 13.19. In an incredible feat of coordination, the high jump relay of Miller, Purtillo, and Egan soared to a combined height of 13 feet 6 inches, earning them second place in that event. Further underscoring the Blue Streaks' strength in relay races, the 4x400 relay team of Karabatsos, Davala, Mayer, and Ramos-Kelly powered to a time of 4:09, clinching the second spot. In the 4x800 event, the Blue Streaks - represented by Ramos-Kelly, Mayer, Vargo, and Davala - secured a fifth place finish. Reflecting on the day, runner Allison Eppich, with a touch of humor, said, "I've been here so long today, I'm not going to be able to spray tan now!" The day showcased the Blue Streaks' prowess as a formidable force in the realm of track and field as they continue to hone their skills throughout the season.
