Magnificat High School's Blue Streaks Win Sectional Championship in Basketball
Magnificat Basketball claimed the OHSAA Division I Sectional Championship held on February 22nd, defeating Akron Firestone Falcons by a final score of 68-36. The Blue Streaks took an early lead with a halftime score of 38-22, and they continued to exert their dominance in the second half, securing their place as Sectional Champions with a strong performance. Leading the charge for Magnificat were junior Julia Hall, junior Reese Roggenburk, and senior Katie Maryo, who contributed with a combined 39 points to drive the team to victory. Hall led the scoring with 17 points, Roggenburk added 12, and Maryo chipped in another 10. The win improved the Blue Streaks' season record to 17-6, setting the stage for further challenges. Up next will be the OHSAA Division I District Semifinal against either Massillon Washington or Westlake on February 27th at 6:00pm at Valley Forge High School.
