Magnificat High School's Track and Field Team Shines at League Meet #1
In an impressive display of athleticism, Magnificat High School's Track and Field team, the Blue Streaks, secured notable spots in various events at the League Meet #1 held at Spire on January 10, 2025.
The event was marked by standout performances in both running and field events. Casey Ansberry was a highlight, finishing 7th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.25 seconds and 5th in the 200m dash, clocking in at 27.64 seconds. In the 400m dash, Kelly Karabatsos captured second place with a commendable time of 61.98 seconds, while Ava Blair also made her mark by finishing 5th with a time of 65.98 seconds. Another significant achievement was by Mikaela Davala, who secured 2nd place in the 800m run with a timing of 2:31. The 4x800m relay team, consisting of Davala, Martin, Vargo, and Corrigan, also secured a second-place finish with a time of 10:35.
The team also excelled in field events where Katelyn Singleton and Mae McGreal both triumphed in the high jump. Singleton and McGreal finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, each clearing a height of 4'10".
This league meet has definitely set a positive tone for Magnificat High School's season, showcasing the depth and talent of the Blue Streaks as they compete at a high level. Their performances are a testament to their hard work and commitment to excellence in track and field.
