Magnificat High School's Track and Field Team Shines at NEOITC#2
Magnificat High School's Girls Varsity Track team, the Blue Streaks, delivered a remarkable performance at the NEOITC#2 event held at Spire on January 24, 2025. The team showcased their athletic prowess across a variety of track and field events, capturing top spots and setting impressive personal bests.
In the running and racing events, Casey Ansberry stood out with a third-place finish in both the 60m dash, clocking in at 8.11 seconds, and the 200m dash with a time of 26.92 seconds. Megan Martin claimed the second place in the 1600m run, posting a time of 5:44. Allison Sanchez also made waves with a fourth-place finish in the 3200m run, completing the race in 12:23. The relay teams brought excitement and success as well, with the 4x400 relay team of Karabatsos, Blair, Martin, and Davala clinching first place with a time of 4:14. Additionally, the 4x800 relay team composed of Corrigan, Blair, Sanchez, and Vargo finished strong in fourth place with a time of 10:27.
In the field events, Mae McGreal earned individual recognition by finishing third in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet 1 inch.
The Blue Streaks' impressive results reflect both the depth and talent of the team as they continue to compete at high levels in the sport. The athletes and their coaches are looking forward to their upcoming competitions, hoping to build on their successes and achieve new personal and team records.
