Magnificat High School's Track and Field Team Shines in Varsity Dual Meet at Bay Village

In a thrilling series of track and field events, Magnificat High School's girls' team showcased their skills at a varsity-level dual meet held in Bay Village on April 23, 2025. The Blue Streaks competed against Bay Village and North Olmsted, emerging victorious with impressive scores. Magnificat scored a decisive 75-62 win over Bay Village and an 80-57 triumph against North Olmsted.

The warm weather provided perfect conditions for the athletes, who seized the opportunity to excel in their respective events. Standout performances were numerous throughout the day, with several members of the Magnificat team capturing individual honors. Kelly Karabatsos led the charge, winning both the 100m dash with a time of 12.73 seconds and the 200m dash, clocking in at 26.8 seconds. Another notable achievement came from Mikaela Davala, who clinched the 400m dash with a noteworthy time of 64.5 seconds.

Further contributions to the team's success included Megan Martin who conquered the 1600m run in 5:33 minutes and Rebecca Jewell who topped the 3200m run with a time of 15:05 minutes. The field events also saw champions as Chloe Bibbo excelled in the pole vault, reaching a height of 8 feet 6 inches, and outshone her competitors in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet 10 inches. Mae McGreal dominated in the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet 2 inches.

These stellar performances not only highlight the depth of talent within Magnificat's ranks, but also underscore the effective preparation and determination exhibited by the athletes on the day of the competition. The Blue Streaks have set a strong precedent for the season and look forward to carrying this momentum forward.
