Magnificat JV Basketball Falls to Saint Joseph Academy in Close Encounter

Peter Fitzpatrick | Magnificat High School | Jan 30, 2025

In a thrilling regular season basketball contest, Magnificat High School's JV Blue Streaks faced a tough opponent in Saint Joseph Academy at home on January 29, 2025. Despite a valiant effort from the Blue Streaks, the Jaguars emerged victorious with a final score of 39-35, handing the Blue Streaks their first loss of the season. The game began with Saint Joseph Academy taking an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 12-6. Their defensive strategy proved highly effective, keeping Magnificat to one of their lowest point totals this season. By halftime, the Jaguars had extended their lead to 22-12. Magnificat's top scorer, Avery Maslar, contributed impressively with 15 points, but it wasn't enough to secure a win against the disciplined Jaguars. Elise LaPorte contributed 6 points, and Lauren Beck and Jayne Fitzpatrick each had 4 points. The Blue Streaks, now standing with a record of 11-1, look to bounce back in their next game against Fremont Ross High School on February 1, 2025, at Magnificat. The defeat has not dampened the team's resolve, as they aim to return to their winning ways and maintain their formidable season record.
