Magnificat JV Soccer Clinches Victory Against Strongsville
In a regular season soccer face-off, Magnificat High School's JV team secured a decisive 3-1 victory over Strongsville on a beautiful fall evening of October 2, 2024. The game, held at Strongsville High School, showcased an excellent performance by Magnificat. The first half was a battleground of skill and strategy, with Magnificat establishing an early lead. Moira Chambers and Kealey Campbell, both St. Angela Merci graduates, were the standout performers, with Chambers netting one goal and Campbell scoring the crucial game-winning goal just 17 minutes into the first half. Their efforts were supported by numerous assists from their teammates, highlighting a well-coordinated offensive play. Chambers netted her goal at the 3 minute mark left in the first half to make it 2-0. Goalkeeper Haley Wheeler performed admirably, maintaining the lead and showcasing skill under pressure, especially in the second half, when Strongsville cut the led to 2-1 on an excellent header by their mid-fielder. That goal came at the 28-minute mark of the second half, narrowing the gap. However, Magnificat's strong team defense and strategic gameplay ensured they held onto their lead and secured the win. Chambers scored her 2nd goal with 3 minutes left in the contest, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Mustangs. Campbell, who scored the pivotal first goal, reflected on the moment, "I was in the right place at the right time. I got a great assist from my teammate and was able to finish. It was a great moment during the game." This win is a significant boost for the Blue Streaks as they continue their season. Looking forward towards the final leg of their season, the JV Streaks host Twinsburg at home this Saturday October 5th at 1pm. They are looking forward to getting rabid home support at Krantz Field!
