Magnificat High School turned in a strong all-around performance at the NEOITC #2 meet Friday at SPIRE Institute, placing third out of 11 teams with 60 points behind an event title in the high jump and a relay victory on the track.

The Blue Streaks’ biggest scoring punch came in the high jump, where Mae McGreal and Kaitlyn Singleton delivered a 1-2 finish. McGreal claimed the event title by clearing 4 feet, 10 inches, while Singleton matched the same height to secure second place on attempts, giving Magnificat a major boost in the field events.

On the track, the 4x200-meter relay of Sophia Karabatsos, Emma Loeffler, Ava Davala and Casey Ansberry sprinted to a first-place finish in 1 minute, 49.58 seconds, adding another event win to the Blue Streaks’ total. The quartet’s performance set the tone for Magnificat’s relay group and helped keep the team in the upper tier of the standings throughout the meet.

Ansberry played a central role in the team’s scoring across multiple events. In addition to anchoring the winning 4x200, she placed third in the 60-meter dash in 8.14 seconds and added a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 2 3/4 inches. Her versatility on the sprint straightaway, in the jumps and on relays made her one of Magnificat’s top point scorers on the day.

Magnificat’s 4x400-meter relay also came through with a key podium finish. The team of Karabatsos, Ansberry, Lily Martin and Davala combined for a second-place time of 4:18, closing the meet with another high-scoring relay effort. The result capped a strong day for Karabatsos and Davala as well, who contributed heavily in both sprint relays.

With event wins in the high jump and 4x200, plus multiple top-three finishes and a strong relay presence, Magnificat’s third-place team finish at NEOITC #2 reflected balanced production across the roster. The Blue Streaks’ mix of field-event success, sprint depth and relay strength provides a promising foundation as the indoor season continues to build toward championship competition.
