Magnificat Rallies Past Perrysburg 3-1 With Three Straight Goals

Teagan Mulloy scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway (video below!) with 31:30 remaining in the second half, sending Magnificat to a 3-1 victory over Perrysburg on Saturday at Karnatz Family Field at Magnificat High. The Blue Streaks overcame an early 1-0 deficit and scored three unanswered goals while controlling much of the match in light rain.

Perrysburg struck first, but Magnificat’s Carly Dudek delivered the equalizer before halftime. Attacking through the middle, she unleashed a powerful shot toward the left side of the net that beat the goalkeeper and pulled the Blue Streaks even at 1-1. Magnificat continued creating scoring opportunities and carried that pressure into the second half.

Mulloy broke the tie by beating a defender one-on-one during a quick breakaway. She finished the move with a shot toward the right side of the goal, placing the ball just beyond the goalkeeper to give Magnificat a 2-1 advantage. Lydia Hamad protected that lead with 24:42 remaining, making an important save on a Perrysburg breakaway toward the left side of the goal.

Only 28 seconds later, Lexi Hradek added the final goal. Mulloy delivered a cross from the right, and Hradek controlled the ball in the left-center portion of the box before directing a precise finish into the upper-right corner. The sequence gave Mulloy a goal and an assist while providing Magnificat with a two-goal cushion (video below!).

Kalli Sdrakas, Moira Chambers, Sophia Zbawiony, Greta Trapp and Carly Dudek also turned in standout performances as the Blue Streaks remained solid defensively and sustained their attacking pressure. Magnificat will next travel to face Upper Arlington at 3:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Sept. 26.
