Magnificat tops Bay, falls to Valley Forge in Bay Village dual meet

Magnificat turned in a strong day of event wins Thursday, defeating Bay High School 72-47 and falling to Valley Forge 64-49 in a dual meet at Bay Village City School District.
The Blue Streaks were led by Chloe Bibbo, who posted three first-place finishes. Bibbo won the 100-meter dash, long jump and pole vault, giving Magnificat points across both the track and field events. Mae McGreal added two more victories, taking first in the high jump and the 300-meter hurdles, while Chloe Wozniak won the 100 hurdles, Izzy Loeffler claimed the 200 and Rebecca Jewel finished first in the 3,200 run.
Magnificat also delivered in the relays. The 4x100 relay team of Bibbo, Laux, McGreal and Loeffler earned a first-place finish, and the 4x200 team of Loeffler, Laux, Davala and McGreal matched that result with another victory. Those relay wins helped anchor the Blue Streaks' team score against Bay and kept the meet competitive against Valley Forge.
The meet showed Magnificat's balance, with points coming from sprinting, hurdles, distance races, jumps and relays. Bibbo's versatility stood out in particular, and McGreal's wins in both a field event and a hurdle race added to the team's depth over the course of the afternoon.
While the Blue Streaks split the dual, Thursday's results featured a collection of winning performances that gave Magnificat plenty to build on as the season continues, especially from a group that produced multiple individual victories and two relay titles in Bay Village.
