McGreal Repeats on Podium at OATCCC Indoor State Meet
Magnificat High School’s indoor track and field season was highlighted at the OATCCC Indoor State Meet in Geneva, where junior distance standout Mae McGreal delivered the Blue Streaks’ top performance with an eighth-place finish and a return trip to the awards podium.
Competing against the state’s best inside the SPIRE Institute facility, McGreal secured eighth to earn a podium spot for the second consecutive year, underscoring her consistency at the championship level. Her finish placed Magnificat on the team scoring board and capped another strong indoor campaign for the Blue Streaks’ distance group.
McGreal’s ability to navigate the fast-paced state field again proved decisive, as she maintained contact with the lead pack through the early stages before closing well enough to lock up a top-eight spot. The performance followed last year’s state podium run and reinforced her status as one of the top distance runners in the division.
The repeat podium finish also provided an important benchmark for the Blue Streaks’ program, which continues to emphasize year-to-year development and championship experience. By returning to the medal stand, McGreal demonstrated both progression and reliability in high-pressure races, giving Magnificat a proven point-scorer on the indoor state stage.
Magnificat coaches and teammates pointed to McGreal’s preparation and race composure as key factors in her ability to finish inside the top eight again. Her state-level experience is expected to carry into the upcoming outdoor season, where the Blue Streaks will look to build on the momentum generated at SPIRE.
With McGreal leading the way at the OATCCC Indoor State Meet for a second straight year, Magnificat leaves the indoor campaign with a confirmed state medalist and a strong foundation in the distance events as attention now shifts toward outdoor championship goals.
