Soccer Survives Scare From Stow-Munroe Falls 2-1 In OT
In an exhilarating OHSAA Division I District Semifinal clash, the Magnificat Soccer edged out the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs with a 2-1 victory in overtime. The match, which was held on Karnatz Family Field at Magnificat High School. The Blue Streaks took an early lead with a halftime score of 1-0. The scoring was initiated by senior Gabby Garcia, who found the net in the first half, setting a strong pace for the Blue Streaks. Stow-Munroe Falls, not to be outdone easily, equalized late in the second half on a penalty kick, pushing the game into an overtime showdown. In a tense overtime period, senior Mary Garcia emerged as the hero for Magnificat, scoring the decisive goal on a header. The goalkeeping duties were handled by freshman Abby Garcia in the first half and sophomore Lydia Hamad in the second half. This win pushes the Blue Streak's season record to 5-6-7, setting them up for the OHSAA Division I District Championship against Strongsville at North Ridgeville HS on Saturday, October 26th at 4:00pm.
