Varsity Basketball Closes Out Florida Trip With 64-52 Victory
Magnificat Varsity Basketball defeated Doral Academy (FL) by a final score of 64-52 in the 2024 Junior Orange Bowl Classic held at Westminster Christian School in Palmetto Bay, Florida. The win secured them 3rd place in the tournament. The Blue Streaks took the lead early and maintained a competitive edge throughout the first half with a score of 34-28. High-scoring performances from senior Julia Hall, who notched 23 points, and fellow senior Sofia Wilson, who added 20 points, were pivotal in securing the win. Notably, Wilson's impressive shooting included making 6 out of the team's total 11 three-point field goals, showcasing her sharpshooting skills from beyond the arc. Both Hall and Wilson were named to the 2024 Junior Orange Bowl Classic All-Tournament Team. This victory brings the Blue Streaks' current season record to 7-3. Looking ahead, Magnificat is set to face Notre Dame Academy from Toledo in their next contest on January 4, 2025, which will be held at Magnificat High School.
