Varsity Basketball Prevails Over Medina In Rematch Of Regional Championship

Magnificat Varsity Basketball secured a solid victory over the Medina Bees, posting a final score of 56-39 in their regular season contest of what was a rematch of last season's Regional Championship game. From the outset, the game was a tightly contested battle. The Blue Streaks managed to edge out Medina with a halftime lead of 27-23. They then extended their control of the game in the second half, ultimately winning by a decisive 17-point margin. This win highlights the strategic prowess and preparedness of Coach Gallagher's team, whose instructions were pivotal throughout the fierce competition. Key performers for Magnificat included senior Sofia Wilson who led all scorers with 18 points along with 4 assists, followed by senior Reese Roggenburk with 14 points & 6 rebounds, senior Julia Hall at 13 points & a game high 9 rebounds, and junior Gemma Wichmann contributing 11 points & 6 rebounds. Their combined efforts were instrumental in securing the victory for the Blue Streaks, who now improve their season record to an impressive 9-3. Senior Sophia LaPorte was undoubtedly the defensive star of the game as she held one of the best players in the area to 10 points for the evening. As a team, Magnificat held Medina without a field goal in the second half until just over 3 minutes remaining in the contest. The Blue Streaks are focused on continuing their successful season as they prepare for their next contest at Rocky River HS against Rocky River on January 15th.
