Varsity Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Night Win 17-7 Over Hawken

Magnificat Varsity Lacrosse triumphed over the Hawken with a final score of 17-7 on Senior Recognition Day. Hosting the regular-season game at Karnatz Family Field on their home turf, the Blue Streaks showcased talents that reflected their current record of 13-4 while also celebrating the grand opening of the Smith Snack Shack - the new building that houses a ticket booth, concessions and restrooms for the field. In the first half, Magnificat surged ahead, leading at the halfway point with a commanding 7-2 score. The relentless drive of players like sophomore Grace Quinn, who scored a total of 5 goals and contributed 3 assists, and senior Stella Frain and sophomore Alena Martinez, who delivered 4 goals each, further solidified the home team's performance. Ably complementing the scoring parade, senior Abbey Gillissie also provided pivotal 2 assists for the Blue Streaks, emphasizing the importance of team play in the game. The defensive line was strongly held by goalie sophomore Olivia Brugnoni, who made 12 key saves to deny the Hawks on multiple occasions. Looking ahead, the Blue Streaks have their eyes set on the next game, scheduled on May 8th at Rocky River Stadium, where they will face off against Rocky River.
