Varsity Lacrosse Outlasts Bay 14-13

User | Magnificat High School | Mar 26, 2024

Magnificat Varsity Lacrosse secured a narrow victory against the Bay at the Karnatz Family Field. The Blue Streaks, currently boasting a 3-0 season record, triumphed with a final score of 14-13. With a drizzle whipping across the turf and the wind serving as a formidable opponent to both teams, weather was certainly an issue. At halftime, the Blue Streaks held a slight edge, leading with a score of 6-5, only to clinch the win with an impressive display of teamwork in the second half. Freshman Mary Connor delivered a standout performance, netting 6 goals; Sophomore Grace Quinn followed with 4 goals of her own along with a strong performance in the draw circle for most of the second half. The game-winning goal, however, was scored by freshman Lily Casterline. It was a full team effort, with senior Stella Frain notching up 2 assists, and sophomore goalie Olivia Brugnoni making a critical contribution as goalkeeper with 11 saves. Looking ahead, Magnificat will head into spring break, and they are set to face off next against Jackson (Massillon) at home on April 9th at 5:00pm. Overall Record: 3-0 Next Up: Tuesday, April 9th Vs. Jackson (Massillon) - 5:00pm - Karnatz Family Field @ Magnificat HS
