Normandy High School’s Invaders women’s basketball team turned senior night into a statement win Thursday, rolling past Collinwood 48-18 at 2500 W. Pleasant Valley Road behind a balanced offensive attack and suffocating defense.

The Invaders seized control early and never let go, using active hands on defense and strong rebounding to turn stops into transition opportunities. Normandy consistently limited Collinwood to one shot per possession while pushing the pace the other way, steadily building a double-digit cushion that grew throughout the game.

Senior guard Keilei Anderson set the tone in the backcourt, scoring 10 points while directing the offense and leading the team in assists. Anderson helped keep the Invaders organized against Collinwood’s pressure, repeatedly finding open teammates on cuts and kick-outs that led to high-percentage looks at the rim and from midrange.

In the paint, senior forward Giana Caricoppolo anchored the interior with 12 points while leading the team on the glass. Her work on the boards limited second-chance opportunities for Collinwood and extended numerous Normandy possessions. Caricoppolo’s rebounding presence was a key factor in the Invaders controlling the tempo and maintaining their large lead across all four quarters.

Senior post player Chelle Wilcox added 11 points and provided a defensive presence inside with two blocks, helping protect the rim whenever Collinwood was able to penetrate. On the perimeter, senior guard Gina Tomecko matched that 11-point output and sparked the defense with three steals, turning turnovers into quick points and contributing to Collinwood’s offensive struggles.

All four seniors — Anderson, Caricoppolo, Wilcox and Tomecko — were honored before the game as part of Normandy’s senior night recognition, and each played a central role in the lopsided victory. Their combined scoring and leadership paced an Invaders lineup that maintained energy and focus from the opening tip to the closing buzzer.

With the 48-18 win, the Invaders closed their home celebration on a high note, showcasing the impact of a senior class that contributed across the stat sheet and on both ends of the floor. Normandy’s performance offered a strong example of balanced scoring, team defense and senior leadership coming together in a complete effort.
