Dave Mealy | Normandy High School | Aug 14, 2025

Normandy High School Cross-Country team, coached by David Mealy and Karla Whalen, who are both in their first season, looks to make a significant impact on the course this year. Looking ahead to a promising season, the team kicks off with the Berea Invitational on August 23rd. The opening meet at Berea is particularly noteworthy as the Invaders look to set a strong pace for subsequent meets, including the LCCC Invitational and Buckeye Invitational. A significant point in the season will be the participation in the Boardman Invitational on September 13, known for its competitive field. As the season progresses, the Invaders aim to excel in the Woodridge and Medina Invitationals, ramping up to the critical CWC Championship on October 11. David Mealy and Karla Whalen are optimistic, fueled by the rigorous summer training and dedication of key runners like Landon Hardy from the boys' team and Emily Bassett from the girls' team. These athletes are returning to lead their squads with experience and vigor, expected to turn in top performances throughout these challenging courses. The culminating events of the regional and state meets on October 25 and November 1 promise high stakes and competitive spirit. With such a packed schedule, the Normandy Cross-Country Invaders are on a focused path, embracing the challenges and high expectations of each meet.
