Invaders Enter New Era With Senior-Led Foundation

Normandy enters the football season with a new head coach, a large senior class and an emphasis on setting a higher standard for the program. Jordan Connell takes over looking to establish new traditions and high expectations, with veteran leadership expected to shape the Invaders’ identity from the opening week through the final game.

That experience begins with 11 returning starters: Nick Williams, Jackob Muniak, Carter Maxey, Matt Coad, Fernando Acevedo, Cameron Hayden, Troy Summers, Rocco Polatta, Marcus Baldruff, Mike Gircsis and Brody Tusai. Their familiarity with varsity football gives the Invaders a seasoned foundation as they adjust to a new direction under the coaching staff.

The size of the senior class stands as Normandy’s clearest preseason strength. The Invaders will rely on those seniors to provide consistency, reinforce the program’s new expectations and help the team respond to the challenges of the schedule. Matt Coad is also among the players to watch, along with Aaron Dancy Matt Coad and Alex Mastrobuono, as Normandy works to turn its returning experience into dependable play.

Normandy will get its first test at home against Holy Name in the season opener. That matchup will offer an early measure of how quickly the Invaders have adapted to their new traditions and standards. CWC games against Westlake and Lakewood also stand out as important points on the schedule and will test the team’s progress against key conference competition.

The regular season closes Oct. 23 against rival Valley Forge, giving the Invaders a significant matchup at the end of their first season under Jordan Connell. With a deep group of seniors and numerous returning starters leading the way, Normandy begins the year focused on building a clear identity and carrying its new expectations through the final week.
