Normandy High School Invaders Volleyball Team Faces Challenging Season Opener
On August 16, 2025, the Normandy High School Invaders Varsity Volleyball team competed in their first match of the season against North Ridgeville. The Invaders, despite their determination and effort, were defeated 3-0 in sets at the opposition's ground. The first set saw North Ridgeville take a significant lead, closing the set at 25-11. Moving into the second set, the Invaders struggled to gain a lead, with North Ridgeville similarly dominating this round, finishing with a score of 25-12. The third set followed the same pattern, though the Invaders showed slight improvement, the set concluded at 25-14 in favor of North Ridgeville. Throughout the match, key players like Ariana Valentin Rivera and Anais Valentin Rivera each contributed with 5 kills, and Morgan Seeley added 4 kills. Coach Balis commented on the team's performance, emphasizing the strong effort and determination displayed by the players. She noted, 'I am proud of the way our girls continued to give strong effort and how they displayed determination regardless of the score in each set.' Despite the loss, the Invaders showcased resilience, engaging North Ridgeville with several long volleys, challenging the opponents to earn their points. Looking forward, the Normandy High School Invaders are scheduled to play their next game at the Normandy Dome on August 18, 2025, where they will face Mayfield. The team currently holds a record of 0-1 for the season.
