Normandy hurdler breaks two school records, qualifies for state at OHSAA Super Regional

Normandy High School delivered its top performance of the postseason Saturday at the OHSAA Super Regional in North Royalton, led by a record-setting day in the hurdles that sent the Invaders on to the state meet.

The Normandy standout, already the school record holder in both the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, lowered both marks again while competing against a large regional field. She placed third in the 100 hurdles in 14.72 seconds, a personal best that also reset her own school standard and secured a state-qualifying finish. Later in the meet, she added a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 45.04 seconds, another personal best and another school record.

Those results gave the Invaders a pair of high-level finishes on one of the biggest stages of the spring. The third-place run in the 100 hurdles showed both speed and precision, and the 300 hurdles result confirmed that the momentum carried through a demanding second event. Breaking one school record at regionals is difficult. Rewriting two in the same meet, while advancing to state, made it a standout afternoon for Normandy.

Saturday’s meet was held under clear skies with warm conditions at North Royalton, where the temperature reached 82 degrees. Normandy’s biggest impact came through the hurdles, and the performances provided the kind of postseason breakthrough that can define a season. With personal-best times in both races, the Invaders leave the regional round with tangible momentum and a state qualifier in peak form.

For Normandy, the day was about more than placement alone. It was a continuation of season-long progress, capped by two faster times than the program had ever recorded in those events. Now the Invaders turn their attention to the state meet, with their record-setting hurdler carrying both confidence and championship-level form into the next stage of the postseason.
