Northeastern Junior College Golf Team Secures Fifth Place in Region IX Tournament

LA JUNTA, CO - The Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen golf team competed at the Regular Season Region IX event on March 20 and 21, 2025, finishing in fifth place with a commendable team score of 617. Ryan Ewoniuk, a standout player for the Plainsmen, was honored as the DDC Golfer of the Weekend following his impressive performance. Ewoniuk navigated the course with a robust first round score of 77 and an even more outstanding second round of 71, securing the 11th position in the tournament. In addition to Ewoniuk's achievements, several other team members delivered noteworthy performances. Seth Morrison showcased his skills with a score of 81 in the first round followed by a 73 in the second round. Tyler Miller demonstrated consistency with rounds of 79 and 77, while Kasen McNeilly matched Miller's second round and improved from an 82 in the first round. Diego Mondragon and Gabe Gibson also contributed strongly to the team's overall success with their impressive play over the two rounds. Looking ahead, the Plainsmen are set to continue their campaign at the upcoming Region IX regular season tournament in McCook, NE, on March 27 and 28, 2025. The team is hopeful to capitalize on their experiences and successes from La Junta as they prepare for their next challenge.
