Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen Set to Battle Trinity Valley Cardinals in NJCAA Volleyball National Tournament Opener

The #5 seeded Northeastern Junior College's Plainswomen volleyball team are gearing up for a significant challenge as they face off against the #12 seed Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals in the opening round of the 2024 NJCAA National Tournament. The high-stakes matchup is set for November 20, 2024, at 4 pm EST in Clarksville, TN, hosted by Austin Peavy State University. This contest marks the first-ever meeting between the Plainswomen and the Cardinals, adding an element of unpredictability and excitement to the tournament. Currently, the Plainswomen hold an impressive season record of 31-5. They are led by head coach Mackenzie Chrisman and Assistant Coach Taylor Burns who boast key players like Natalie Moore, who ranks third nationally in blocks per set, and returning All-Americans Rosa Brencic and Nerea Alvarez Jorge, leaders in kills and assists respectively. On the opposing side, the Cardinals, coached by Aleah Hays, have a season record of 23-14. They feature standout players such as 6-foot-1 freshman outside hitter, Sara Gamboa from Columbia, a leading force in kills nationally, and Beatriz Piaia, who tops the national charts in blocks per set. The Plainswomen are focusing their excitement and competitive spirit into rigorous preparations, aiming to make a strong showing in the 2024 first round games. this is the 7th tournament in a row that the Plainswomen have represented Region 9. This match not only serves as an important athletic event but also as an opportunity for the Plainswomen to showcase their skills on a national stage. The team recently celebrated their tournament seed, as captured in a team photo and video showing their thrilled reaction to the announcement.
