In a tightly contested Region IX North volleyball showdown, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen pulled out a narrow victory against the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles, with a final score of NJC 3, LCCC 2. The match commenced strongly for Northeastern, as they took the first set 25-18, setting a robust pace against Laramie County. Continuing their dominant form, the Plainswomen secured the second set with a comfortable 25-14 scoreline. However, the momentum shifted in the third set, where LCCC fought back to take it 25-21, signaling their not-yet-defeated spirit. The fourth set was a nail-biter, witnessing an intense battle that extended beyond the usual limits, with LCCC ultimately edging out NJC 30-28. With everything to play for in the fifth and deciding set, Northeastern Junior College reasserted their authority, winning 15-9 and sealing the match. Key to the Plainswomen's success was the standout performance of Kaitlyn Barnes, who was recognized as the DDC Player of the Match. Despite being a target for LCCC’s strategic serves, Barnes maintained her composure and followed the game plan effectively, which was crucial in pivotal moments of the match.
