Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen Face Tough Challenge Against Western Colorado University Mountaineers
On November 2, 2025, the Northeastern Junior College Men's Varsity Wrestling team, the Plainsmen, participated in a dual scrimmage at Western Colorado University. The event was an opportunity for the Plainsmen to test their skills against the Mountaineers in a highly competitive setting. The scrimmage concluded with the Plainsmen unable to secure a victory, resulting in a final score of 0-54. Despite the challenging outcome, individual performances were noteworthy, particularly that of Tuck Wray. Wray, usually competing at 157 pounds, took on the challenge of wrestling in the 165 pounds category. Although Wray faced a tough match and was defeated with a score of 2-12, his effort was recognized as he was named the DDC wrestler of the match. Coach Duncan reflected on the experience, emphasizing the scrimmage as a critical learning opportunity for the team. He remarked, 'This was just another opportunity for our young team to step on the mat with an NCAA varsity team and scrap hard. It is a great opportunity for our guys to learn where they can improve.' Looking ahead, the Plainsmen are set to host their next event at Northeastern Junior College on November 9, 2025, where they will face off against Northwest Wyoming. This upcoming event represents another chance for the team to apply lessons learned from past competitions and improve their current record of 1-0.
