Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen Achieve Victory Against Trinidad State College Trojans

On October 4, 2025, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen faced off against the Trinidad State College Trojans in a vigorous conference volleyball match at Trinidad. The Plainswomen secured a triumphant 3-1 win over the Trojans, marking another success in their season with a current record of 20-3. The match began with a challenging first set where the Plainswomen fell behind, losing 20-25. However, they rebounded strongly in the following sets. In the second set, their performance was dominant, winning 25-10. This momentum continued throughout the match, with the team securing the third and fourth sets at 25-14 and 25-13 respectively. The resilience and strategic gameplay exhibited by the Plainswomen were key factors in their turnaround after the initial setback. Top contributors in the match included Kaitlyn Barnes with 13 kills, Kiera Heaven LOE leading with 19 kills, and Samantha Mosley adding 11 kills. The defensive strategy was spearheaded by Evie Gavette, who made 14 digs, and Stella Carrer, with 13 digs. Additionally, Stella Carrer provided outstanding support with 40 assists throughout the match. Special recognition was given to MaddyLynn Shumway and Sophie Wood, the DDC Players of the Game, who were pivotal in the Plainswomen's defensive lineup, contributing aces and consistent back-row play. MaddyLynn Shumway also earned accolades by scoring 4 aces, becoming one of the distinguished players of the game. Looking ahead, the Plainswomen will next play Laramie County Community College October 7th in Cheynne, Wyoming. The team remains focused on maintaining their strong performance as they progress through the season.
