Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen Advance in National Tournament
The Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen secured a significant victory in the first round of the National tournament on November 19, 2025, defeating the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters with a final score of 3-1. The volleyball match, held at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, TN, added to then win streak of 29 wins in a row for the Plainswomen. The Plainswomen began the match with a strong performance in the first set, winning 25-16. They maintained their momentum into the second set, replicating the score of 25-16, demonstrating consistent offensive and defensive plays. However, the Plainswomen dropped the third set as the Gila Monsters fought back, taking the set 25-21. Undeterred, the Plainswomen regained their composure and closed the match with a decisive 25-14 win in the fourth set. Kaitlyn Barnes was recognized as the DDC Player of the Game for her exceptional skills in serve receive and her smart offensive tactics. With this victory, the Plainswomen improve their impressive season record to 33-3 and advance to the Elite 8 of the tournament. The Plainswomen will now face Snow College in the Elite 8 at 7pm central time on November 20, 2025, once again at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, TN. Snow College advanced after defeat Barton County Community College 3-0. These two teams met back on Aug 30, the last time Northeastern saw a loss. This upcoming match promises to be an exciting one in Northeastern's quest for a National Championship.
