St. Ignatius Wildcats JV Blue Beat Pendleton Arabians in Rugby 29-0
Under cloudy skies, the Saint Ignatius High School Wildcats varsity rugby team secured a strong victory against the Pendleton Arabians on March 9 at Fortress Obetz. The Wildcats crafted a formidable performance in the regular season encounter, topping the Arabians with a final score of 29-0. The Ignatius squad, determined to dominate from the start, ascended to a 17-0 lead by halftime, layering their game plan with a strong emphasis on defense. The Wildcats proved their mettle on the field with tries scored by Oliver, Toth, Colleary, and Boker. Additionally, Gallagher and Tempfli ensured the Wildcats dominance by converting two of the crucial tries. The physicality of the game was amplified by the Wildcats' ability to navigate against formidable opponents. "Pendleton is a very physical team and we were able to outgame them," Marcello Woodberry commented after the game. Demonstrating his team's resilience, Coach Barbieau acknowledged the challenges posed by injuries but commended both teams' spirit on the field.
