DELAWARE, OHIO - Saint Ignatius High School finished 21st out of 25 teams at the Berlin Bear Den Dash on Saturday, October 3, at Olentangy Berlin High School in Delaware, Ohio. Jackson Wilburn led the Wildcats with a 78th-place finish in 16:33, followed by Benedikt Mellion in 88th at 16:40 and Aydin Joshi in 100th at 16:47.
The Cat Pack delivered one of its best performances of the season by time, with multiple runners setting personal records in their most competitive meet of the year. The strong individual efforts did not translate into a higher team placing however, underscoring the depth of the 25-team field.
Wilburn, Mellion and Joshi finished at seven-second intervals, putting the Wildcats' first three runners within a 14-second span. That close grouping anchored the team's results, with Wilburn setting the standard and Mellion and Joshi keeping the front of the Saint Ignatius pack compact at the finish.
Isaac Raddell placed 124th in 16:58, and Benjamin Tepley followed one second later in 125th at 16:59. Their consecutive finishes completed a five-runner group separated by just 26 seconds. Lukas Gerber added a 132nd-place finish in 17:03, bringing all six listed Wildcats finishers across the line within 30 seconds of one another. Five finished under 17 minutes.
The narrow finishing spread was a notable feature of the Wildcats' performance, pairing a compact pack with several personal-best efforts despite the final team position. The race took place under clear skies with a temperature of 64 degrees. The Wildcats will look to bounce back in their next contest on Saturday, October 10, at the Legends Meet over at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds over in Cortland, Ohio.
