Silverdale Baptist Academy used a decisive three-run fifth inning to break the game open and went on to beat Boyd-Buchanan 7-4 in a region matchup Tuesday at 7236 Bonny Oaks Dr. The Seahawks scored first, built the lead with timely middle-inning offense, and then held off a late push to secure the home win.

Silverdale finished with seven runs on 10 hits and one error, while Boyd-Buchanan totaled four runs on six hits and one error. The Seahawks opened the scoring with a run in the first inning, added another in the fourth, then created separation in the fifth. Maddux Hasty helped drive that surge, finishing 2 for 3 with a run scored, three RBIs and a walk. His production in the middle innings gave Silverdale the cushion it needed.

The Seahawks stretched the advantage again in the sixth, when Graham King played a key role in adding two more runs for a 7-2 lead. King finished with three RBIs, including a home run, and also earned the win in relief. Silverdale’s offense showed patience throughout the night as well, drawing seven walks in 27 at-bats while producing two home runs.

Coach Rorex
Big team win. Guys responded well after a tough game two yesterday. Mox gave us a great start and King did a great job shutting the door. Great day to be a Seahawk

Boyd-Buchanan stayed within reach with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before adding another in the seventh. A. Hise homered and went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and B. Edwards also hit a home run. Edwards took the loss on the mound after allowing multiple runs in relief, while L. Cooper kept Boyd-Buchanan in the game early with 3.0 innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out four.

Still, Silverdale answered the key moments first. The Seahawks led 1-0 after the first, 2-1 after the fourth, then pushed the margin to 5-1 in the fifth before extending it to 7-2 in the sixth. Boyd-Buchanan’s late rally trimmed the final margin to three, but Silverdale closed out the 7-4 result behind the combined impact of Hasty’s run production and King’s two-way performance.
