SBEP Titans Win Again, Defeat Norwood 6-1

The St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans were triumphant over Norwood 6-1 on Monday. Norwood got on the board in the first inning, but the Titans reclaimed the lead, 2-1, in the bottom half after Jason Helphinstine drove in a run with a double and Lucas Cannady followed with a sacrifice fly. Mason Stone earned the win for the Titans. He surrendered zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking three. #6 took the loss for Norwood. The pitcher went five and one-third innings, allowing four runs on one hit, striking out five and walking six. Tony Stier collected the save. Lucas Cannady pitched two and one-third innings of scoreless ball for SBEP in relief, allowing two hits, striking out two, and walking five. Mason Stone also provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading the Titans with three RBIs. It was a strong day for offense, as Mason Stone, Keenan Derrenkamp, Lucas Cannady, and Jason Helphinstine each collected a hit in the game. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Logan Davis led the team with two walks, and he stole three of SBEP's five stolen bases. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Varsity Titans will look to add to their new win streak as they travel to Clark Montessori for their next game on Thursday.
