St Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans Shine at Norwood High School Track and Field Invitational

In an impressive display at the Norwood Invitational held on April 17, 2025, at Norwood HS, the Titans track and field teams demonstrated exceptional prowess against tough competition. Competing against schools like Seven Hills, Taft, Aiken, SCPA, Norwood, Oyler, Shroder, and Western Hills, the SBEP boys and girls squads put forth stellar performances. The girls' team secured a commendable second place with a total of 113 points. A standout moment came from Diamond Compton, who earned 1st place in the 200 meter dash, showcasing her speed and competitive drive. Meanwhile, the boys' team clinched first place with an outstanding score of 141 points. A key highlight was the boys' 4x2 relay team consisting of Devan Compton, Yeremiah Israel, LaDae Lackey and Damien Dawson broke the school record with a remarkable time of 1:34.71. Lucas Cannady stood out in the field events, earning first place in discus and second in shot put, demonstrating his exceptional skill in multiple disciplines. Dior Phelps-Patterson had a strong day as well, securing first place in the high jump. The climactic moment of the meet came during the last event, the 4x4 relay. The boys' team was tied with Taft at 133 points each before the event. Michael Washington, Dameko Taylor, Cash Carter, and Ladae Lackey delivered a thrilling performance, clocking in at 3:44 to beat Taft's time of 3:48, thereby securing the overall win for St Bernard-Elmwood Place. Looking ahead, the Titans are set to compete again on April 24, 2025, at Taft High School, where they will aim to continue their strong performance and carry their momentum forward.
