Titans Lose, but Put Up Incredible Fight Against New Miami
In a regular season volleyball face-off on October 2, the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans faced a challenging match against the New Miami Vikings at the SBEP Titan Gymnasium, resulting in a 0-3 loss for the home team. The first set saw the Titans trailing as they scored 13 points against the Vikings' 25. Momentum slightly improved in the second set with the Titans pushing harder to put up 17 points, but the Vikings closed it again at 25 points. The Titans showcased their strongest performance in the third set, pushing the Vikings to a tightly contested 28-26 score. It was a close game to the very end. The crowd cheered with each play, erupting in thunderous applause with every point. Although they lost, the Titans pushed the division-leading Vikings to their limit. It was a fantastic game to play on senior night. Congratulations and thank you to senior Mady Philp, who has been a part of the varsity team throughout high school. Key performances came from Devon Renner and Tessa Jewell, each contributing four kills, while Makayla Harris added two kills and led defensively with two blocks. On the backline, Tessa Jewell excelled with 14 digs while also leading in assists and aces. Hayden Spears and Joselynn Telinda each put up an impressive defensive game, contributing to both digs and aces. The Titans are set to meet Clermont Northeastern on October 7 as they look to improve their 8-8 record.
