St. Bernard-Elmwood Place opened the track and field season with an encouraging showing Wednesday at Madeira High School, where the Titans turned in several top-four finishes against a deep, competitive field. In an early test, St. Bernard showed the kind of balance coaches hope to see in April, with points and strong efforts spread across relays and field events.

A key takeaway from the meet was the number of contributors across the roster. The Titans recorded multiple top-four finishes in a variety of events, a sign that the lineup is not leaning on one area alone. That balance stood out in both the relays and the field events, where SBEP found valuable performances and showed it can compete in several different spots over the course of a meet.

Just as important for a season opener, the effort reflected a mix of upperclassmen leadership and underclassmen impact. That combination gave the Titans a strong foundation at Madeira and hinted at room for growth as the schedule moves forward. Early-season meets are often about finding rhythm, building confidence, and identifying strengths, and SBEP checked each of those boxes against quality competition.

There is still plenty of season left for marks to drop and placings to rise, but the opener provided plenty to like for the Titans. With strong early depth already on display and contributions coming from throughout the roster, St. Bernard left Madeira with positive momentum and a clear sign of its potential for the rest of the year.

Coach Anthony Harrison
We came out and competed hard in our first meet. There’s still things to clean up, but I’m proud of the effort and how we showed up against tough competition
