Titans Take Lead And Never Look Back In Win Over Gamble Montessori

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place won big over Gamble Montessori 16-0 on Wednesday. The SBEP Titans jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jason Helphinstine doubled, scoring two runs. Lucas Cannady followed that with a sacrifice fly, and Keenan Derrenkamp hit a run-scoring single. Mason Creech brought in an additional run on a bases-loaded walk. SBEP blew the game wide open in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on seven hits. Jason Helphinstine, Lucas Cannady, Mason Stone, Keenan Derrenkamp, and Amare Hicks each hit an RBI double. Mason Creech contributed an RBI single and Logan Davis gave the Titans another bases-loaded walk for a run. A single by Mason Stone, a single by DJ Moss, and a sacrifice fly by Logan Davis helped the Titans extend their lead in the third. Nathan Schulte earned the win for the Titans. He gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four. #12 took the loss for Gamble Montessori. The hurler went two innings, allowing 12 runs (11 earned) on 11 hits, striking out none and walking two. It was a tremendous game at the plate for the Titans, who tallied 14 hits. Mason Stone, Logan Davis, Keenan Derrenkamp, Lucas Cannady, and Jason Helphinstine each collected two hits for SBEP. Mason Stone and Jason Helphinstine both drove in three runs. Nathan Schulte, Logan Davis, Keenan Derrenkamp, and Mason Creech each stole multiple bases, leading to SBEP accumulating 12 stolen bases. Next up for the Titans is a game at Western Hills Varsity Mustangs on Saturday.
