The Saints packed five scorers into the top 30 and finished with 53 points Saturday, Aug. 29, capturing their first Kane County Meet championship since 2021. Adley Wilson led the way with an individual title, completing the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 56 seconds and setting the tone for a strong team-wide performance.

The front of the Saints’ lineup delivered valuable low numbers throughout the race. A first-place performance from Adley Wilson - winner added to the team’s front-running results. Nicole Mayer recorded a fourth-place finish, crossing in 18:20. Leah Sutherland followed in 11th place with a time of 18:57 as the Saints established the depth needed to contend for the team championship against the Kane County teams.

Pack running proved decisive as the race unfolded. Lilli Margewich and Ruby Garcia each finished among the top 30, securing the final scoring positions that sealed the victory. Their finishes gave the Saints five scorers near the front of the field and helped the team hold its championship position with a winning total of 53 points.

The Saints let the race develop and moved in the 2nd half of the race.

The Saints also gained ground through determined racing in the middle and closing stages. Lilli Margewich advanced from 22nd to 17th place over the final mile, one of the team’s most significant moves of the meet for the Saints adding another strong performance near the front of the pack.

That same competitive approach carried through the lineup. Ruby Garcia passed four runners over the final 200 meters on the way to a 27th-place finish, providing another example of the Saints racing aggressively through the finish recording a time of 20:54 and contributing to the team’s impressive top-30 depth.

With an individual champion, multiple top finishers and a tightly grouped scoring pack, the Saints turned a balanced effort into a milestone team victory. The program’s first Kane County Meet title in five years offered an encouraging early-season measure of its ability to race together and keep moving forward when every place mattered.
